Fernando Torres: Keen to impress Jose Mourinho
Fernando Torres insists he wants to stay at Chelsea and revive his career under new manager Jose Mourinho.
The Spain striker has struggled to justify his £50m price tag since arriving from Liverpool in 2011 and has been linked with a move to Barcelona.
Weekend reports suggested Mourinho, who is keen to reshape the Blues' forward line, could cash in on the forward for as little as £18m but Torres, with three years left of his deal to run, is determined to impress the returning boss.
"I want to stay, I want to honour the contract I signed, keep winning titles and I'd like to be the best in my position," he told Spanish newspaper AS.
"There is no better place and better conditions than with Mourinho at Chelsea."
Torres has just enjoyed his most productive season yet in Chelsea colours but only eight of his 22 goals were scored in the Premier League.www.Thesuperonenews.blogspot.com
